The hung Podenco

The title could also be: cruelty goes on and on and on...
From Cadiz we also took this Podencoto Scooby. He had just been found
with the rope still round his neck. It is a miracle how he did survive
with this deep wound at all but he did. He has been treated by our vets
and he is already living in Fermin´s pack with a big bandage around his
neck. We named him Noel.
And we promised him a home where he will find love and protection
forever. Could it be with you??

We went to Cadiz

THere we were needed to pick up about 50 dogs and so we did, as always
when it is somehow possible for us. We just went in the car and drove
700km to Cadiz and 700km back to Scooby.
THey are now all safeand sound at the Shelter and they will appear on
our adotion pages very soon!
So please fall in love and adopt!

Kenia, learning to survive being blind.

About three weeks ago we received another one of those calls that we get at the shelter so many times. And this one was about picking up an abandoned animal from a village close to Zamora. Everything looked normal, if you consider leaving an animal to fend for its own normal. When we arrived we found a very little dog, looking very fragile, tied to a post, hardly moving. Somebody living there who was waiting for us said that the person picking up the dog, and therefore the one legally responsible for calling us, had decided the night before to leave the little one tied to the post. It really is hard to understand what is going through a person´s head to think that a cold and humid december night is an ideal place to leave a little pup to spend the night. I don´t know how she survived but we are grateful she did. We even had a bigger surprise when we found that the little one was completely blind, she was scared, could hardly move and was whimpering and she had that look of utter terror on her face. Humans never cease to amaze us. We immediately took her to the infirmary, she had to recover quickly and it was absolutely necessary for her to get warm, get some food and hydrate. Within a few days the little one recuperated wonderfully and after going through some test, the little one had another suprise for us, Kenia is also deaf.  Even though life has not been kind to her, she is a happy and playful pup, loving and sociable, and sweet, very sweet, and deserving of a better life. Will you help us spread her story.

Why is Paca still with us?

We may be a bit guilty somehow. As we know she is fine,we are not
taking enough care about  her situation ,even if she always there in
our minds.
You have already read her story?
Since her accident she is living with a foster family, however
that's only a temporary place to stay and what she actually
needs is a final home.
Well-behaved and obedient she gets along with all kinds of partners
of course children, other dogs, cats and well even ferrets!
The video we have made in an atypical way is meant to show you
her behavior in a regular day.
She needs a real home, even if she doesn't know it. Coming back to the shelter would be terrible for her.
The movie is really very special, don´t miss it!!

Our van went to the shoemaker

I don´t know if I have done it before but better twice than none, I want to inform all of you that we have a new transport Van , is the biggest that we could find  , we insulate the van , we built kennels inside and we install the best air-co that we found , all the best for the comfort of our doggis and also the drivers. All this could be done trough a generous , extremely generous donation from  XXX
She is a friend of Dr Couto and he persuaded her to make this big donation for the van. Anyway now it´s winter time and we need to cross the Alpes so we needed to but winter tires for it , so our dogs are safe on transport and here it is at the shoemaker with its brand new tires. Maybe you could help tp pay them. Kisses, licks and hugs from all of us. Fermin

Poor Dolores

This morning Scooby has rescued 3 more galga girls from the provincial perrera from Valladolid. This is a high kill perrera and the dogs don´t have to count on any special care or medical treatment when they need this. The black/white girl was abandoned and hit by a car and she is in a very bad state. She suffers incredible pain on her leg which is badly broken and when we put her in the car the bones come out. She also has wounds all over her little body and a bag of fluid under her chin. She arrived in the perrera yesterday afternoon and was put on a concrete floor without even a blanket to ly on and of course no pain medication at all. By the time we came back at the residencia, she was lying in the car like this, I think she fainted of the pain she was suffering. I don´t think her leg can be saved but we´ll see what the specialists say. For now she´s ok with pain killers and antibioticum and lying on a thick soft bed. If she hadn´t been a galgo, they would have put her down the minute she arrived in the perrera, but they know they can count on Scooby and we count on help from you for this sweet baby who we have named Dolores.
