Galgos in urgent need of help 1: Blanca

I heard a story about some galgos that were in need of urgent help because their owner had been imprisoned and could not take care of them for a long period of time but I did not find out where they were, how to get in touch with somebody.. Until through one person or the other, someone close to the family could contact me and tell me what had happened. In reality the owner of the galgos had been in prison for a few months already and his relatives were taking care of feeding the dogs, but they were going through a very bad economic situation and could not pay for any veterinary care, and the bad part was that one of the galgas, Blanca, had an enormous tumour on her belly and therefore the family had been trying for some time to find somebody who could take care of them and mostly of Blanca because she must have been suffering. And they found one,  thanks to Scooby, because I got in touch with Fermin who didn’t have to think about it twice and said that Scooby would take care of all the galgos. I realize the effort they are making at Scooby is very big,  there are more and more rescues of animals in very terrible conditions, so I am very grateful to them for taking care of this case too.
The day that I met with the family, they brought out Blanca, the first one, and when I saw her I knew I had to take her to the refuge immediately to have her checked out by the vet, so we put her in my car and we agreed to come and pick up the other ones later. I saw immediately she was a treasure, a very soft and sweet galgo without any fear of humans. The two of us went to the refuge where in a few minutes Enrique our vet set up to operate on her.
Now Blanca is doing well, she is a happy galga that is adorable to everyone because she is sweet, loving, happy, social, a perfect galga to live with a family!

Mula : 39 horses emaciated

Again Murcia, again Raquel the lawyer, I was going to Holland with another transport of dogs and she told me about 39 horses in very bad conditions, again I could not say no, so again we are involved with now 38 horses, one has disappeared, we suspect that he is dead, so I decided to go there, I had left some holidays so I went there to Murcia, at the same time I was going to visit Juan Fran and the sheep and goats from Bullas and I  wanted to see by myself the horses, I met Raquel and I went to the court to sign all the papers, afterwards we went to the place and then I was absolutely shocked about what I saw there, please imagine the situation , a wonderful place, there  they have a hotel for humans, and the stables were absolutely incredible, the place was marvelous but when I saw the horses , it was absolutely incredible, the most of them were just skin and bones, there were foals that they look more like little goats than horses, some mares really skinny and two or three that they were in quite good conditions.
There are some similarities with the Bullas case and they really make me think that something is going wrong with the Spanish authorities and animal welfare.
  • Both cases have been reported before.
  • Both places are illegal and everybody knew about this.
  • Nobody has done anything until we arrived .
So, in my opinion several authorities have been looking away, everybody knew about this and nobody did anything, I don’t know how to name these cases but at least I must say that several authorities have not being doing their work properly .
After that day, again we were named officially by the judge for feeding them, what has happened afterwards has been something really incredible but I will tell you later , another day.
So I guess that more and more we will report cruelty cases , if not, nothing will be done.
I know that we are doing a lot of things reporting many cruelty cases and I know that all of you are proud of this, but we need your help, the situation is becoming really difficult, you have been reading all the rescue cases that we are doing daily, we cannot do it without your financial support, please donate today we need your help and we need it now, if not we will need to stop all these rescues. Kisses licks and hugs from all of us. Fermín

What a pity.

Another group of puppies that is gone from one of the puppy rooms to 7-3 with the adults, it means that probably they will stay with us forever and they will not have the chance to have a family , I feel absolutely awful about this, because when we move them it is like if we have given up, it is not the case but more and more puppies are arriving and we need the space and these are fully vaccinated so we need to move them, please give them a chance , it is so heartbreaking to see them , how they came like babies, all the suffering  until they are grown enough, and the they got a certain age and they are not attractive anymore, nobody thinks about them, they become transparent and nobody wants to adopt them anymore, don’t let them down.
I know that we are doing a lot of things reporting many cruelty cases and I know that all of you are proud of this, but we need your help, the situation is becoming really difficult , you have been reading all the rescue cases that we are doing daily, we cannot do it without your financial support, please donate today we need your help and we need it now , if not we will need to stop all these rescues. Kisses licks and hugs from all of us. Fermín

Blankets and Coats

My dear Scooby friends , we are successful very successful getting blankets and dog coats , thanks to all of you for this but now I can tell you , we have enough for the following years, even more we are offering blankets  to other organizations that could need it, in fact we have built a storing place just for blankets , we have more than 20 cubic meters on blankets and coats, so please don’t send to us any more blankets or coats, at least for the moment, but if you want to keep helping us , we have a new initiative for getting funds for Scooby and this is a second hand charitable shop here in Spain, if you have something that can be resalable and you want to help our animals, donations are more than welcome. But please only stuff that is still in the shape to sell it with a clean conscience. And then we can take all these wonderful things that you have store somewhere in your house, while we are doing our transports to Europe. Thanks. Kisses, licks and hugs for all those that they don’t have a voice. Fermín

Press release, 17th of september 2014-09-22

A total of 26 horses came from Mula (Murcia) to Scooby, and these horses were saved from a new case of animal abuse in the last month of august. This last august, the Sociedad Protectora de Animales y Medio Ambiente  Scooby made it her business to report another case of animal abuse in Mula (Murcia), taking a total of 38 horses into her care. These horses were found in a very sorry state, without food, with multiple wounds without being taken care of and in a very sorry hygienic state as well. While we were waiting for the final jurisdiction, we were given the authorization  to take a part of these horses to our refuge in Medina del Campo. So yesterday 26 of them arrived there, and the rest, 12 of them, have been adopted by the person who has been taking care of them since the day they were found and taken charge of by Seprona.
The judges in Murcia that have been handling this case have authorized Scooby to take care of feeding them  and give them all the necessary care. The president of the Protectora knew of the case through the lawyer of Scooby in Murcia, Raquel Lopez. The Sociedad Protectora de Animales y Media Ambiente Scooby is asking for the help of anyone willing to assist in the maintenance and sanitary needs of these animals.
