An update on Zuki.

You probably remember the little galga who weighed a meagre 10kg when rescued at the beginning of the month. The good news is that her blood work has improved a lot. The bad news is that all the toes on her hind legs simply fell off one after the other due to the gangrene caused by the vasculitis and the resulting bad blood supply.

There is, however, a possibility to help her with a 2 part titanium prosthesis, one part fixed to the bone, the other part removable, kind of like a shoe. So far, so good... But the price to have it done by a specialist from Canary Island is 2600 due to the extremely high cost of the materials.

But you know us... We can't just rescue this little girl and then give up on her and put her down because of a financial drawback. That's simply not Scooby.

For that reason, we are, once again, kindly asking for donations to help cover the immense cost of little Zuki's operation. Please help us give Zuki a second chance and a life worth living.

Below is a link with the old blog post in case you need a little reminder about her story:

Galgos in Need Part 2

Today we want to introduce some of our more fragile Galgos, the weak and the underdogs who are living among the many other stronger and more confident Galgos here in Scooby.
Life can be difficult and not so enjoyable for the underdogs, often keeping well out of the way of the other dogs trying to be unnoticed and avoid confrontation, sometimes being taunted just because they are weak, and usually waiting last in the line at feeding times.
Most of the dogs featured are friendly and comfortable with people, and just need to be able to relax and enjoy life in a safe and quieter environment than the shelter, where they do not have to avoid the many stronger characters among them.
Therefore we ask for help from our rehoming partners to look for special homes for these sweet but delicate Galgos in Need.
The underdogs we present to you are: Flamenca, Silver, Negrita, Careta Carrasqueña, Zamorana, Morena, Dante, Miranda, and Betty.

Galgos in Need – Part 1

Here in Scooby we have hundreds of Galgos waiting for that special chance to be adopted and to put the lives they have previously suffered behind them.
Today we want to introduce some of our neediest galgos, the timid and very afraid Galgos, who hide in the back of the paddocks, hoping not to be noticed, and not wanting to be touched.
Its very difficult for these dogs to become socialised and lose fear in an environment where there are many others who are stronger and more confident. Some of them fear only people, others fear both people and the other dogs they are living among. Some will do almost anything to escape being seen or touched by a person, some will tremble in the corner facing the wall and hoping to disappear. Others are not so terrified, but still very timid and need help to progress in a calmer and peaceful environment.
We are calling on the help of our rehoming partners, to find suitable homes for these Galgos, adopters or foster carers who have experience with the frightened galgos, and who can help to re build their lives in a quiet and safe place.
The Galgos we present today (in order of the pictures) are – Django, Estrella, Mila, Andrea, Valiente, Perjuicios, Fili, Rosi, Betoldo, Castano, Desgraciada, Mantequilla, Noruega, Chechu, Diamante, Montero, Lorca, Rosco and Relampago
Thank you for giving special consideration for our needy ones.
