The Superior Court of Justice of Castilla y León declares that in order to
officially opt for the service of collection of animals, it must be taken into
account the WELL-BEING of the animals in the tender’s terms & conditions
and not only FINANCIAL aspects.
Thus the highest court in the Region gives reason to the Association ‘El
Hocico’ in its appeal filed two years ago against the terms of the tender
convened by the ‘Diputación de Salamanca’ for the collection service of
abandoned dogs. In these, only the lowest price and the shortest collection
time were taking into account. However, these T&C’s didn´t take into
account about zero sacrifice, the conditions of the facilities, the appropriate
allocation of the animals, not even the chip being placed before they were
adopted. The only aspects considered were time and cost efficiency forgetting
that DOGS ARE LIVING BEINGS.
Scooby also filed a similar appeal, and we wait for a resolution in the
same direction
We hope that after this sentence the administrations begin to have a
greater sensitivity towards animal welfare in this type of services
because we are talking about saving lives!
