Stories to keep you awake

At Scooby not a day goes by that nothing „strange“ happens. Let me tell you:
A couple of days ago we received a phonecall from a lady telling us she wanted to bring in her two cats and her dog, because her daughter had become allergic to them. All of a sudden.  We of course want to help everybody within our capacity but right now the refuge is very full and therefore we told her that we unfortunately could not help her.  The strange thing is that a couple of days later, a woman comes in with her daughter to bring a dog which supposedly they had found in front of their house, completely clean and quiet, and when we asked about him, the daughter let it slip that he was 8 years old. How she could know when she had just found him, is a mystery. Oh well, for the benefit of the dog we pretended to be dumb and let the dog stay.  But the story doesn’t end there.. two minutes later another woman comes in with two daughters and two cats who looked like they had been wearing a collar, well fed, clean and completely relaxed, and she said that (what a coincidence) they were found in front of their house. We don’t want to be overly suspicious but after seeing all this it would be very difficult not to think that these animals were from the same lady who has lied to our face shamelessly just to get them into the refuge.  These animals were not registered so we cannot prove it, but we just feel this is the case. The refuges for animals have been started to house abandoned animals, without owners, and if for one reason or another you can no longer take care of your animal, it is your responsibility and yours only, not the responsibility of the refuge.
Even so we have so far always taken them up, but please, all the people that work here are not stupid, although sometimes for the benefit of the animal we pretend to be.
The only thing that remains is pray that there will be someone who will give these poor creatures a second chance, after such a long time of loyalty the only thanks they got is being dumped in our refuge. We worry about their health because they are obviously scared and depressed. If you want to enlarge your family, think of them, they need you!

A doubtful "honor"

VICTOR  arrived to Scooby being a puppy. Now, almost 20 months later, he has the “honor” of being paddock 8 longest resident…He is always happy, always welcomes you with his enormous smile and a big hug. He loves people and sitting next to you, or, much better, on you but that´s not nice because he has become a big boy…He is playful and sociable specially with females; in fact, he flirts with all of them. VICTOR thinks paddock 8 is his home and the Scooby workers and volunteers are his family…But this is not what we have in mind for our dogs. We want them to experience MORE love and attention and that they are somebody´s best friend. And Victor would make a real good best friend. So please let´s find a real home for him!
Look at the video and you will see what we are talking about:

2014 Part Three

·        Our transports of animals abroad, this year we have increased the frequency of animals transports, some month two or even three, but this is not enough, the routine is always the same we left here on Friday around 4/5 in the evening, we start downloading dogs and the final destination used to be 20 hours later, in Holland or in Italy, after that some rest, some food and many hours sleeping so on Sunday morning we start our way back because on Monday morning I need to be back at school working, 4000 Km in two and a half days, exhausting but really rewarding to see all those animals with their new families , because this is the end of our work to rehome all these animals. By the way the preparative of a transport are really also a lot of work , the castrations, blood test , passports, Traces papers etc., etc., it makes that before a transport the activity is really exhausting for the people at the office and we are always before a transport.
·        This year we have been also renovating part of our shelter, we have a new store room for blankets, the hospitalization for dogs and cats, the new room for the laboratory for the blood tests, and the never ending story and it is to repair what our animals broke and believe me this is a lot.
Until I got the final results and then I can tell u these are our main things done during 2014 and believe this is not all, I always forget something.
Kisses , licks and hugs from all us, galgos for adoption , all the other dogs and cats also for adoption and all our animals from the sanctuary ahhh and Don’t forget to donate today without your help nothing is possible. Fermín

Galgos looking for a home

Around this time of year we all know it is one of those moments when most galgos are being picked up and mostly so in the regions like ours, en Castilla.  This is the case of these four galgos that we show you today that arrived in Scooby in Zamora due to their owners (hunters). Four angels that were moved to the premises in Medina to find themselves a new and definite home where they can live and enjoy a life with a family that loves them, cares for them and treats them like one of their own.
We know we are asking a lot, but who can say no to these angels?
