Rosco – The gift of giving a traumatised dog a second chance

Many of our long time volunteers will remember sweet little Rosco, the terribly scared hunting dog who would run continuous circles in his paddock out of stress and his fear of people.
Rosco spent more than 1.5 years in Scooby, and after going unnoticed for so long, it seemed that Rosco was destined to spend the rest of his life, running his circles of stress in his paddock, until his legs could run no more.

But then a very special opportunity came, when one of Rosco’s biggest fans, Scooby volunteer Ana, decided to give Rosco the chance that no one else was willing to give him, the chance to know life in a home of his own, where he didn’t feel the need to run scared and feel the overwhelming stress a dog like Rosco can feel living in a shelter.

The videos show you Rosco today, after just a few short months living at home, and how big a difference you can make to a dogs life if you are willing to give a dog like Rosco a chance.
Shelter life is especially hard for the dogs who have such fear, and Rosco is a shining example of how special you can make life for a dog, if you are willing to accept they may need a lot of extra time, love and patience, but when you see how you can turn a life around it is more than worth it.

Zamorano – Forgotten Galgo at Scooby

Zamorano is a medium size Galgo. He has a nice character,  likes people and he is good with other dogs. He is happy but not jumpy. He is calm but not shy or timid. He is 6 years old, so not young and not old. And he is a black male, like many others in Scooby. So all together he is just another average Galgo. And this is probably why he is almost one year living in the shelter of Scooby now. We think he has been forgotten..
So what could make him special? Well, YOU! If you adopt him, you will get to know him and love him. You will be the one that sees those little things that make him different from other dogs. And you will see those sweet eyes when he feels relaxed and loved. That will make him special. And for him, you will be the most special person on earth.
Please do not forget him.

Here is a video of Zamorano in his paddock:

FLAG

What we can definitely flag about Flag is how she is the embodiment of the affection she wants to give and get from people. She is beautiful, very beautiful, with a mysterious and attractive touch. Her coat is smooth and glossy, and it's as if her amber-like eyes are telling you that she's ready to love you and be part of your life straightaway and with no conditions. When you take her for a walk she keeps an eye on you and if you stop on a bench, she'll stick next to you to share the view of the world together. She loves being groomed and will lie on her back for a tummy rub. To sum up, she loves as much as she wants to be loved. The only thing she asks is to be the only pet in the household. Could it be yours?

DORIS

Doris will probably never win a beauty contest, that's for sure! But in our eyes, she is one of the most beautiful souls in the shelter. Her gaze is warm like no other. She is crazy about people and will happily jump into a car with total strangers and go on a trip with them without hesitation. When she senses a “human” visit in the distance coming her way (she is in the perimeter of the shelter), her heart and her all is eagerly waiting to love and be loved. She is a sweetheart, loves going out for walks and is not afraid of anything. And because no one's perfect, if she could choose, she'd rather meet big dogs rather than small ones on her walks. Would you like to share your life with her? She will surely say yes!
