A: not under 18 years old , if they are not with their parents.
Q: What are their tasks?
A: Feeding , cleaning any kind of animals, dogs, cats, ferrets, birds, horses, goats, sheep, bull, donkeys in an exhausting journey every day. Giving and receiving love from all of them. We need to bath some of them and I am not talking only about dogs , I am talking also about horses .

Run free Dagy

Today is a sad day for Scooby, Dagy, our loved oldie left us.
Dagy has been rescued from an horrible condition of neglect, thanks to one of our great volunteer.

http://scoobymedina.blogspot.com.es/2014/12/the-story-of-dagy.html

He improved day by day to became gorgeous and happy.
But he's health was compromised from illness and his past condition of the privation he lived and at the end he lost the fight.
Hopefully he could live a bit in our shelter, cuddled and loved, with good food and a soft bed. But he never knew the warmth of a home.
Please think seriously to give a chance to one of our hundreds of Dagy, before it's too late.
Run free loved furry ball friend.

A short but sad story

Actually it is nothing out of the ordinary, something that happens many times here in Spain, probably even many times a day.
A car stops at the residencia, someone rings the bell and there are people at the door saying they found 2 little galgo pups somewhere in the fields, they could catch them, put them in the trunk and would Scooby please take care of them.
Of course, we can do that and we take the frightened pups to a kennel, give them a soft bed, food, drinks and long cuddles and hopefully they will get used to their new surroundings soon. Unfortunate but pups adapt very quickly so they should be fine soon and they of course are absolutely adorable.
After talking to the people who brought them in, they tell me what I was afraid of and makes me sick to my stomach, they say they found the pups together with the mother, a white galga, while they were eating a rabbit caught by the mother, and that the mother has been wandering around that area for the last 3 years, every time having a litter that is being taken away from her by well meaning people because of course they cannot stay there.  The mother will then of course defend her little ones fiercely, she came on to them growling and threatening but still her little ones were taken from her, again, leaving her desperately seeking them, hopeless and frustrated..
It makes my heart break and something should be done about it.

Sudan & Nino became Mimi & Pongo and very happy!

Dear friends,
please read below the heart-warming mail of these proud owners in Belgium and enjoy the pictures!

Dear, dearest people from Scooby,
...now it's been already almost 5 months ago (27.9.2014) that we got "Sudan" & "Nino" (now they listen to their new names: "Mimi" & "Pogo").
I'm feeling a bit bad cause I wanted to write you already for such a long time how EXTREMLY HAPPY we are with our new "little family"!!!
These 2 are really our pride and joy and getting them from you is maybe the best decision we ever made.
They get along so well and it's sooooooo lovely to see & feel how they support and love each other....and us, hehe!
We totally adore them and enjoy every second with them.... I could write sooooo much more but I think you got my point.
We wish you all there, people & animals, the very best- keep up the good work,
sending you strenght & love,
best regards,
Galina, Preben, Mimi & Pogo!

The mystery of the German shepherds – part 2

When we said the other day that it seemed that we were getting a lot of German shepherds into our refuge, we were not lying. We want to make their faces visible, that you get to know them because it is the only way for them to leave our premises and find themselves a home. There are still a lot of them that could not be checked out yet so we  can put them up in our database. We are so filled with work right now that we could not do it yet, but we promise we will do so as soon as possible. Right now we present you the ones that were still missing: Ross, Coco, Amy, Jasper and Sammy. Look at their faces, don’t you think they deserve to find a home? Adopt one of them, you won’t regret it!

The mystery of the German shepherds – part 1

Lately it seems we are getting a lot of German shepherds into the refuge. We really do wonder and want to know why in such a short time dogs of this breed have managed to fill our premises. All in a very short period of time and some in truly very bad conditions. What could be the cause? Has it become fashion to abandon your German shepherd? We really do not know why these animals are being abandoned because after getting to know them we do know that they are truly loyal and noble.  Maybe some day we can figure out which crime they committed to deserve such a severe punishment. Maybe they just stopped being a little furry plaything or they were getting too old or people simply got tired of them, but from where we are standing we can say that neither one of them deserved it. All of  them have suffered from being abandoned and in most cases of abuse too. Our hearts broke when we saw the condition in which some of them arrived at  Scooby. It is now time for their fate to change and that somebody notices how marvelous they are. Let that person be you and decide to have one of them become part of your life, we assure you that you won’t be disappointed!
