Please help these 2 underdogs

There are some dogs in every shelter for whom the shelter life is much harder than for other ones. It seems they are wearing a sign on their forehead saying UNDERDOG. Wherever you put them, they are the victims. And that is very sad. For us and first of all for the dogs.
I´m going to tell you about 2 of them because both of them have been bitten and taken out of the paddock and our wish is that they don´t need to go back in any paddock but can be prepared for the next transport!!
They are Corea(fawn,born 2012,in Scooby since april) and Campero(brindle, born 2013,in Scooby since december).Both have been bitten(Corea more than once) and had to be taken out of their paddocks.
Corea is very shy;in the big paddock he didn´t let me touch him but always came very close and,at the end,he was already eating from my hand(so,I think this means he is scared but not traumatized).Now,in a small paddock and feeling safe,he comes to me and lets me cuddle him.He isn´t dominant at all. He loves wáter!!!
Campero is also shy but much,much less.He is one of those dogs who comes happily, then runs away, comes back again more happily...Funny boy!!! He is quiet and not dominant; always near the quiet and good galgos and avoiding the "bossy" ones.
Please take these dogs into consideration because they really need to get out soon and get rid of their UNDERDOG sign in a loving home!

A TESTAMENT THAT WILL FEED HUNGRY DOGS AND HEAL THEIR WOUNDS

A few days ago we received a phone call from someone asking for our VAT number and all of Scooby's details. To start with, we were a bit puzzled by the request, but soon after, the man on the other side of the phone, without any kind of self-flattery, told us that he was writing his will and that he was leaving a part of his legacy to Scooby's residents.

It is not every day that we receive phone calls like this, even less so in Spain, where these types of donations are not very widespread. A recent study shows that 50% of the Spanish population is unaware of the existence of this possibility. However, in Europe, legacy donations make up a big part of NGOs income. It's an alternative that some, normally people with no progeny, adopt as they would rather choose who their assets go to rather than see them end up in the hands of the state.

In Spain, the only established legal limitation where successors might exist is to respect the shares corresponding to the legitimate successors. You can choose to leave specific material assets such as money, real estate and cars or more generic ones such as a percentage of shares, assets and even royalties.

In order to make a donation of this sort you must see a notary and write a will including all the relevant information reflecting the organization's complete identification details. To this end, you will need the VAT number of the organization, the address and the deeds by which the NGO was created.

Never before has Scooby been on the receiving end of a legacy of this kind and we hope a long time passes before we receive the one left by this generous man.

Any help, big or small is welcome. As you know, we currently look after approximately 1500 animals in our premises and resources are always scarce. Here is an example to show you how the money would be spent: 1500 €  would pay a vet's monthly wages, 5000 € would secure food for all the animals in our care for a month and 50,000 € would allow us to build a new part of a shelter in Zamora which is currently in a very run down state.

Thor (Sky) – The Forgotten Hero

Handsome Thor (also known as Sky) is the forgotten hero of Scooby Palencia. Last August he saved a small kitten that was thrown over the fence. He took it under his wing, licked it and pushed his nose against te kitten until the Scooby worker saw the little cat and took it to the vet. Thor is a true hero! But unfortunately also a forgotten hero…

Thor is only 4 years old, but he has been living at Scooby for at least half his life now. He was already in Palencia when Scooby took over that shelter in January 2015. Thor loves to be with people and being pet as you can see in the video. Please do not forget about Thor when you are thinking about adopting a dog. Thank you.

Rosco – The gift of giving a traumatised dog a second chance

Many of our long time volunteers will remember sweet little Rosco, the terribly scared hunting dog who would run continuous circles in his paddock out of stress and his fear of people.

Rosco spent more than 1.5 years in Scooby, and after going unnoticed for so long, it seemed that Rosco was destined to spend the rest of his life, running his circles of stress in his paddock, until his legs could run no more.

But then a very special opportunity came, when one of Rosco’s biggest fans, Scooby volunteer Ana, decided to give Rosco the chance that no one else was willing to give him, the chance to know life in a home of his own, where he didn’t feel the need to run scared and feel the overwhelming stress a dog like Rosco can feel living in a shelter.

The videos show you Rosco today, after just a few short months living at home, and how big a difference you can make to a dogs life if you are willing to give a dog like Rosco a chance.

Shelter life is especially hard for the dogs who have such fear, and Rosco is a shining example of how special you can make life for a dog, if you are willing to accept they may need a lot of extra time, love and patience, but when you see how you can turn a life around it is more than worth it.
