Matilda and Lolo, two special Galgos in need of a special home

Introducing two of our wonderful Galgos, Matilda and Lolo, both who
found themselves the victims of a car accident, and were rescued from
the streets and taken to Madrid for urgent surgery as they were left
laying by the roadside just waiting alone in agony.

They are now in Scooby recovering from the fractures, and both are such
happy, fun, sweet and very loving galgos, they are very playful and
young dogs, who really adore people and are so loving and affectionate.

Lolo is a happy clown, who loves to make conversation, and he will
‘talk’ to you for hours if you will let him. Matilda is still a puppy at
heart with her big happy smile, and her love for life and having fun.

Please help us to find loving homes for these two galgos, two of so many
hundreds of galgos in need of a home, and who we would like to see homed
as soon as possible.

Enjoy the photos of the beautiful Matilda and her very handsome
boyfriend Lolo.

Unique opportunity for animal lovers

Sociedad Protectora de Animales Scooby or in short Scooby, is
looking for some people who love to work with animals.

We look for people who maybe like to take a sabbatical year or just
6 months to a year to do something else and broaden your experience
in life. Of course if you like to stay longer we can always talk
about that. Working with animals and a nice group of international
   people.

We specifically need people who like horses and know what horses
are all about. Who can take care of them. That means feeding,
cleaning and loving them. And if they are not feeling well you
   report it to our vets.

We have caravans in which you can live on the premises. You will
work in an international team of young people and we have a lot of
volunteers from all over the world visiting us.Our financial
resources are limited (like any rescue organisation, we know!) but
we may be able to offer pocket money for food and basic expenses.

We expect you to be dedicated to the animals your assigned to and
finish your tasks. That you are flexible and give a helping hand
   where needed.

We offer you an experience of a life time which will be part of
Scooby’s work towards changing attitudes to animal welfare To
work with a very nice team with dedicated people. And a lot of
animals that will be endlessly grateful.

Please contact us and send an email to:

Project FOREVERDOG English and Italian

Galgos and other dogs need for your attention. Thanks to Sabine and Pascal living in Southern France and who adopted two Galgos at l’APPEL DES LEVRIERS, a great project is going to emerge. Winter is harsh at Scooby shelter Medina Del Campo (snow, wind, rain), summer is very hot and facilities are not able anymore to protect the dogs. Woe would really love that this project federate all Scooby friends and of course, all other people sensitive to Spanish Greyhounds cause.
This project is seriously designed, with a high level of attention, and the initial objective is to build 8 shelters (such as small houses in concrete), including insulation and waterproofing, based on a concrete slab, with dog doors inserted in the main doors. Each shelter with another one including an inner separation, and each will profit from an inner surface of almost 11 Square meters giving a total of almost 85 useful Square meters.
In order to provide all required transparency, an association has been built which is named FOREVERDOG, including a dedicated bank account since 100% of raised fund will be used to build the shelters. In addition to the work provided free of charge, FOREVERDOG needs to raise 15 000 € for this project. It is such an amount, but not so high to get more than 80 square meters of concrete constructions. Almost all raw material will be bought locally (except those dedicated to insulation). The basic work will be done locally while the technical work will be undertaken by H2E development, a private company (in which Pascal is a shareholder) working free of charge in this project.
If however the amount raised for the project was more than expected, other facilities would be insulated, quarantine restored and external water installations put into operation again. Otherwise, if donation do not allow to build all the shelters, those who can be built will be; to date, we confirm that about half of the project can be undertaken. It is up to you.
What a joy for us and above all for our adored dogs, if this project could be a European project. Thus, dear friends, BELGIAN, DUTCH, FRENCH, GERMAN, ITALIAN, SLOVENIAN, SPANISH, SWISS and all others, we count on you; the dogs count on you. A subscription of 5 € to Forverdog is expected and concerning donation, there is no minimum. Each euro is of importance. Thank you very much, thank you for them, they really need us, and they wait for us.
ADL Team.

I galgos aspettano e sperano !
L'équipe APPEL DES LEVRIERS.

STORY OF ADOPTED GALGA LILIBETH (now LILI)

Lilibeth is a very special galga from the first minute we met her in Scooby in 2014 where we were volunteering and do our work on profiles of the galgos looking homes in Slovenia and of course we found Lilibeth a great home in Slovenia.
We are very proud to announce that galga Lilibeth  became the first adopted galgo in Slovenia who works as dog - therapist.
And here is Lilibeths story writen by her adopter Branka Forscek ... :)

Larisa Pocivavsek - president of SSW

It will be two years this September, since Lili came to our home: she came to us as second greyhound, as a moral and psychological support to our Azucar, who was very frightened.
The most important thing was that the new coming greyhound was mentally stable, not frightened and scared, as she was supposed to help Azucar to overcome fear. Other characteristics such as appearance, age and gender didn’t matter at that time. That is the reason why our lovely Lilibeth came. Unfortunately she didn’t have a chance to meet Suki, as he passed away due to the kidney failure just 14 days before her arrival.
She was something special from the very beginning: at the first meeting she was calm, relaxed and not frightened. She immediately offered her head in a lap for cuddling. That is something she is still doing: she comes to a person, even ones she has never met before, she steps in front of them and yearns for cuddling. While other greyhounds are running and having fun, she is searching for a human hand.
Many people mentioned that Lili acts very soothing and therapeutically. Honestly I have never thought about certified training and becoming a therapy couple. Until this March, when my colleague posted on Facebook an article about therapy dogs.
The same day I contacted her and discussed about this specific article. Two days later we had first testing and Lili did a great job. Afterwards complete training and education went very fast. We did a 4 day training course, meaning 2 Saturdays and Sundays in a row. On Saturdays I had a class without Lili and on Sundays together with her. She was very cooperative. Lectures were educational, at a proficient level and we have gained lots of skills and important information.
After training completion the veterinary and parasitological examination had to be done.
Our next stage includes 25 hours of apprenticeship under the supervision. Afterwards we have to make final exam.
We already had our first visit in an old people´s home in Ljubljana, where Lili did a great job. She calmly put her head into senior's laps; they cuddled her and enjoyed every minute. She also showed her main skills: how to give paw, lie down and sit.
In therapeutic couples (we all work as volunteers) are dogs of different age and breed, purebred and mixed. There are as well some greyhounds in our team – 2 Italian greyhounds and a Saluki. Lili is the first adopted dog – rescued Spanish greyhound in Slovenia, who will perform this beautiful mission: in the past Lili was the one who needed help and someone to take care of her, but today she's the one, who selflessly gives and helps the ones in need.
We love her so much, our sweet little Lili

We need help 4

We have an enormous number of galgos with problems and with serious problems, broken paws, dogs with Leishmania, Filaria, etc. etc.. even though our friends at the Clinica Mediterraneo are helping us exceptionally well, even then we need a helping hand, we need help economically, we need foster homes in Madrid for dogs with broken legs, because if we don’t there will be the moment soon we can no longer continue helping.
Today we present you the next 2 cases. Fili, a wonderful Galga, adorable with humans and other dogs, has Filaria. The treatment is very expensive as you know. And Filipo, a striking beautiful boy with Leishmania. For both we are looking for a home where they can get their treatment in a more calm environment and of course we depend on your generosity to cover our expenses.
Please help us continue to help. Please donate today. Kisses, loving bites and licks from the Scooby team.

Apologies

This time, I am not going to tell you a tragic story. I just would like to apologise to all the people outside of Spain who, by some means or other, help Spanish dogs. Please, don’t get tired to do so. Don’t get tired despite of the group of brainless people in this country who cannot think of anything else but to put obstacles in our way, who denounce the animal transports to other countries without ever providing evidence for what they claim. They accuse us to send dogs to animal experiments; they elaborate alleged reports without furnishing the slightest proof, all on the basis of conjecture; conjecture solely plausible for those who have a twisted mindset or for brainless people. The Guardia Civil has investigated these affairs more than once and they have never found any evidence. The animals leave vaccinated, chipped, neutered, and with all the necessary controls. These persons aren’t aware that, if it wasn’t for you, we would have to sacrifice lots of dogs and cats in this country of ours. Probably this is what they actually want because they don’t care a bit about the animals. The truth is that I am really annoyed when they talk about other associations because I would understand if the German, Belgian, or French associations who help the Spanish dogs got tired and decided to get their aid to other places. And then what? However, what is very clear to me is this: whoever decides to talk about us should provide evidence because we consider to bring all to trial who do so. Best regards and once again have my apologies.
P.S.: Share if you would like to apologise to all the people who support us from abroad.
