The story of Trass

Today we want to tell you the story of a very special dog. Trass left Scooby a long time ago, when he was only four months old, together with his mother and his brothers (they were all adopted). A little while ago he came to visit us but it was not like he or we thought it would be, he had come back to stay. Just now when he is getting to be six years of age, after living half his life with a family in a home, he has been given no other option than to return to Scooby. And we will not get into the details of why.
But yes, there should have been a better option for him, and apparently this is not it… We are going to show you pictures and videos of how he adapted to being in the shelter again. The first picture is from the day he arrived (he spend two days like that), later on his listlessness disappeared a bit and he started to get closer.  When we thought that everything went well, he had problems with his companions. His nervousness and stress made that another dog did not agree with him being there and bit him. Since then he has been recuperating, he had to be stitched up and had some wounds that required daily taking care of. But not all of this wounds were externally, the ones that hurt the most were the worst, the wounds in his soul, his broken spirit of being abandoned again.  Now thanks to the care and the loving attention the people at Scooby have given him, he managed to get better. It has been two months, two months of change that has been favorable. He doesn’t like to be in a closed area, when they take him for a walk he changes completely, is relaxed, walks next to you and looks you in the eye like saying “you see this? This is how I like to be”  He is sociable, caring, loving and the only thing he needs now is find himself a home again, a home to find some love, trust and bonding again that he lost one day.

Paca.. a three legged dear.

We present you Paca, and for the ones that don't know her, she had an accident at night and for however hard we tried, it was not possible to save her leg. Paca arrived at Scooby some time ago, and for the markings on her neck,  we think that she had spend her days tied up. She had a temper and was not really used to being around people, but she started to trust humans little by little, she led herself be loved and transformed into a happy and caring dog. After recuperating for some time Paca is now completely better and only needs a home that is good for her, she does not even realize she has a handicap. She behaves like any normal dog, capable of anything and only in need of a home. She is protective and energetic. When she sees someone for the first time she is very guarded but she will soon get to know you and then becomes your best friend. She is 5 years old and has her whole live ahead of her. Help us find Paca a home!

More news on Amel

Little Amel is, all things considered in her bad shape, stable. Here you can see that with the help of the vet she is being fed after lowering the sedation a little bit. Right now she is not going to have surgery because she still has respiratory problems and it was recommended to wait until her condition gets better. But once it is possible they will try to repair her skull and her nose. After being brutally beaten and hurt we are surprised by the strenght of this poor little pup and her will to live. As long as she is fighting, we will fight with her. Please, help us cover the cost of the operations and the coming legal costs. We cannot allow anybody to do this without being punished for it.

News on Amel

Although we had hoped that Amel had already been operated on, the doctors decided to delay the operation because Amel had some respiratory problems. Since we rescued him he has been sedated and we only lower the sedation to allow him to drink and eat.  We need to keep it that way because he has been hurt so much that the pain would be not be bearable for the little one.  We will keep you posted as soon as we have news from the vet.
We want to thank everyone for their concern and all your support. We are going to need you help to pay for the surgery and also to pay for a lawyer because we think that is where this is heading.
We won't stop until justice is done for little Amel.
Please all support us!

STONED AND LEFT FOR DEAD.. URGENT HELP NEEDED !

This is one of the most horrific cases in our history that Scooby has had to deal with. This puppy was recovered in Bermillo de Sayago after one of the people there warned us when hearing its cries. What we saw when we got there will never leave our minds. The poor animal had a cord around its neck, surely to keep it in place while they were giving it a brutal beating. The brute who did this, hit his head continuously with a stone, and when they thought he was dead, they buried his head while they left the rest of him out in the open. We don’t know how long the little Amel has spend there suffering but fortunately we arrived in time to rescue him and get him to our veterinary clinic.  He is in a very bad shape. We don’t know if he will be able to survive, but if he does he will probably remain blind and with problems with his smell because the blows destroyed his skull and his nose. Even though the prognosis does not look good, we at Scooby are going to try everything in our power so he will live. As long as Amel has the strength to live, we are not going to fail him.  Today he will have his first operation and we cross our fingers and hope for everything to work out. This little one deserves to live, deserves a dignified life, deserves to find out that not all of us humans are murderers and deserves to find happiness.  Please hold on little one.

ROCIO AND MIRAGLOS, HAVING A REAL PIGS LIFE AT SCOOBY

Rocio and Miraglos are the two latest additions to the Scooby farm family. But because both pigs are really social and like to be among people, an area has been made for them so they have some free roaming space among the workers and volunteers of Scooby.

Both pigs wasted no time in getting to know their new surroundings, and enjoying some ‘home comforts’ that most pigs could only dream of.

First Rocio, she must have had been a veterinarian in her previous life, because we could not keep her out of the medical facilities, she started by hauling her great weight up in to the clinic porter cabin, where she was determined to stay until she could find out where that great smell of something edible was coming from. A few minutes later she was found inside the infirmary, and had closed the door on her big self, while rumaging around the waste bin in search of more great smells, and after all that hard work she was found sleeping next to the Scooby ambulance. We were sure by the afternoon we would find her in the hospital making surgeries!!!

Miraglos is the more relaxed of the two pigs, and she is mostly found, wading around in the water pool, or relaxing at the fence next to the oldies garden, but at night time, when its time to go to bed, she can be found sleeping on the sofa outside of the Scooby office, snuggled up with her snout resting on the arm of the couch like it is a pillow.

So, the pigs are now waiting to greet you all at the door with a big oink oink, enjoy the photos of the adventures of Rocio and Miraglos!!!
