Lita, lost or abandoned?

A few days ago a family from Medina rescued Lita from being run over by a car.
The poor one was frightened, wandering the streets, going between cars, completely exhausted.
If it had not been not for that family, she would not have been with us.
When we heard about Lita, we brought her to our facilities and after offering her some water (which she would not drink as she was really scared), we checked if she had a microchip and knew, as usual, she had no microchip.
Lita does not look bad, but we can only guess if she has been recently abandoned or simply got lost.
We will never get tired of repeating how important it is to microchip our pets.
If you love your dog, have him/her microchipped. The microchip gets programmed with the owner’s phone number, and in within a few hours you can have him/her back home. Without the microchip, you may not have your dog back safely and sound.
Either lost or abandoned, this is the result: an animal destined to die, terrified and depressed.
Animals feel, and the psychological footprint of abandoning them is difficult to get rid of.
Lita has not been claimed, so surely we are going to need a responsible home for her.
Do you want to make yours her new home?

A day off in Scooby

As usual we were thinking about how to spend the weekend and we were not sure.
Well, at the end we decided to go to Murcia, rescuing dogs.
So, wake up at 3.30 to leave at 4.00.
As usual we left late, at 4.30, why it's so hard wake up early? But anyway...let's go!
We drove for about 6 hours, some stops for gasoline, pee, snacks, and again on the road.
At noon we supposed have arrived to hell, because of the horrible temperature, but
finally we saw the panel, welcome in Balsapintada, deep Spain.
A very nice family with our volunteers had already collected the dogs and were waiting for us with mom Greta and her three puppies, a bunch of other puppies, galgos and mixes, around ten adult galgos, a few very shy.
Time to load the guys and back to Scooby, away from this hell of heat!
And that's it!
Here they are, waiting for adoption, please have a look their profiles on our web site,
dogs available for adoption section, thank you!*
You already know the Mama with the 3 puppies from another update, but here you can see all the dogs now:

My little girlfriend

.
When I stopped working 1,5 year ago I decided to look for a small podenco andaluz to keep me company when I had to go out. Together is more fun than alone. I have plenty of dogs but they would not enjoy coming with me because they are timid dogs or they get car sick. A small dog is easy and can sit next to me in the car with a proper car harness.

My eye fell on small Olivia now Olijfje, a very friendly and open dog and after looking at some of her pictures I decided to adopt her. She is a small podenco andaluz and weighs about 7 kg. she is really fabulous. She really loves to come with me in the car puts her nose in the air and put on a face and looks so  very satified with herself that she makes me laugh. Everybody looks at her and she is very friendly to everybody. Also to small children she is very friendly and very careful.

When Fermin comes we always go to the garden centre and Olijfje sits on her blanket in the trolly. Even when she is surrounded by plants she does not care. Everybody loves her and wants to touch her and Olijfje enjoys all the attention. Everyone is amazed by her good manners and of course mum is proud. When we go to the market she always gets treats. She really is my little girlfriend.

In the meantime Olijfje has a friend Mickey, he also is a little podenco andaluz who was kicked on the road by people. He really is a sweet little dog very submissive and quite. Mickey and Olijfje are very good friends, they go in the garden together and sleep together. Mickey also loves to lie in your arms as a baby for hours. He really is a sweetheart.

I really do not understand why podencos are not more popular and I can advice everyone to adopt such a little mouse. I also have here 2 podenco andaluz medium size and I can only say that they are just as quite and sweet as galgos. In fact to be honest the podencos here are more tolerant to other dogs than some of my galgos who can by crankey at the time and snabby.  They podencos are only lovingly and sweet and very lazy. So sad that they are not more popular. By the way do you know that podencos are less exaptable to leishmania than other dogs?

Here some pictures of Olijfje and Mickey and look for you self, aren't they adorable?

Helping Teresa and her animals

A few days ago, Fermin received an urgent call from Teresa, a lady of 78 years old who has been President of the Amigos de Animales association in Valladolid. Teresa  has been a very important person in the defense and rescue of animals and still is. Her actual situation was not good, she lived in a rental without water or electricity, in circumstances you would not think possible nowadays.  She lived there with several dogs, cats, canaries and other animals. Her call was very urgent and she was heartbroken because she had to leave her house and the only thing she could think about was what was to happen to her animals.
Obviously Fermin, or Scooby, could not look the other way and therefore Scooby, this animal protection organization that other associations look upon  suspiciously and criticize from the comfort of their sofas, again did not remain on the sidelines and actually did something. What? Well again taking charge of all these animals and trying to find them a new chance in life.
So one morning, Pablo and Simonetta took the van and  went to pick up Teresa’s animals.
Friends, the Scooby family continues to grow and consequently, the costs as well. So again we are going to ask for your help. Taking care of so many animals, supplying food, hygienic and veterinary care make up for a lot every day. So that is why we want to ask for your generosity because with a little help from you we at Scooby can do great things, and it will allow us to keep on helping and rescuing animals. Don’t give it another thought and work with Scooby and if you do want to think about it you will see it is the best thing you can do.
THANK YOU
