At this time it is for sure that I am not going to be politically correct, not at all, because I am  going to tell you something that I have noticed with our new Facebook page , yes the new one” Sociedad protectora de animales Scooby”, that one with updates from all the other Scoobys all over the world, please go visit and click on” I like”, anyway what I have noticed is that the good news are lot more seen than the bad news, if Dani appears , then the numbers of visits goes really high, so we have been joking and we have said that in summer we will have the scooby workers appearing with small clothes and then we will get out of the map. Talking seriously it means that only the good news are important, and I must say that good news are important but also it is more important to share when we put animals in need of a home, supposedly we are an animal welfare organization and we take care of the animals and our followers are animal welfare people also, so ……

And thinking and thinking why it can happen, I don’t know if it a question of triviality or it means that people are fed up with our appeals of help for a certain dog or cat or maybe it is because they think that at Scooby they are perfectly so they don’t need to find a home, at least not in a hurry. In any of the cases you are wrong, our animals need a home like the others or even more , because several of our animals they spend here a lot of time, many times too much time and they deserve to have a home, also because with the space left when one of our animals leave the shelter we can rescue another one, if the shelter gets full , then we cannot keep rescuing more and I don’t want to think what could happen if one day the shelter collapses because of too many animals , please visit our pages , click on “ I like” and then share our animals, you are their only hope and their only voice. Things that make me angry 3

Are we crazy or what? In this country there is a movement, a strong movement against the euthanasia of any animal, at the same time they are able to criticize us when we are exporting dogs abroad, I am sorry but Mathematics are clear , in this country and even in Europe there are less homes available than animals get born and it happens year after year after year so what is the consequence, I am sure that our readers are intelligent enough it means that shelters are full and dog pounds need to kill animals, Is Their fault? Sometimes yes because they don’t make enough publicity of their animals for adoption , but on the other hand I would say no is not their fault, I am sure that nobody likes to euthanize a healthy animal and even a non really healthy animal but what is the alternative for those dog pounds? . I have always thought that the only way is to educate the people and to change the laws so neutering and sterilization are a mandatory but it seems that there is no intention from our politics to do that,  but what is even worst there is no a clear consensus about this, I am watching absolutely astonished in different sites from different orgs how they asked for foster homes for pregnant bitches giving birth and breeding their puppies, don’t they realize that all those puppies are taking the homes from adult dogs?, don’t they realize that thinking that the bitches are going to be spayed anyway , they should do it before more animals come to this world , at the end they are making bigger the problem and only because they want to become the rescuer of the animals but in my opinion these people they are a big part of the problem, they have forgotten anything related with education so the problem can finish one day, sometimes I think that they don’t want to finish with the problem because then , their rescue careers will end and what is going to happen with their lives.  Every week I get to know that another rescue group is born, it means that in a province like Valladolid that is quite small there are more than 12 rescue groups, groups that they don’t speak among themselves, this is crazy and this must stop one day , but I don’t see the end of this and now there is a new fashion and these are the foster houses all of us we have foster houses , myself I am fostering two dogs but there must be always something in mind, fostering is not a free adoption, sometimes the orgs pay everything and then the dogs got forgotten in their foster houses , so the dogs spend a lot of their time with the foster family and when by any chance they get rehomed again , they suffer a new abandonment.

Another craziness I have known that there are different people that they think that they are like God and they decide who is good or bad for having an animal and they steal animals from people that they decide that they are not in good conditions,  I am really sorry but this cannot be done, if one animal is in  bad conditions we should put a complaint with the police and then to see if it is true or not , but to believe that we have the right to do that , it can lead to situations that we have already seen in Salamanca and Zamora of organizations taking dogs, with the excuse that they are abandoned and then to put a chip in their names and not giving back the dog to the original owner, we have had this also in Medina with three puppies and the owner never got back the dogs, I think it is too much, rescuing animals is one thing but stealing them is another issue and believe me it is happening here. Flash news 2

Spring has arrived and the whole shelter looks wonderful, the flowers are blossoming, and the birds are having their babies, a nice time for walking at the shelter, I think this is the most beautiful time to come to the shelter, to visit us and the animals, anyway we have now several volunteers helping us with their invaluable work, they have been preparing the food, we have plenty of wet food and it needs to be prepare .

Waiting for new updates from Simonetta because she is the driver m I can tell you that we have been rescuing galgos from many different perreras, we went to Jerez, to Tomelloso , to Toledo and to Valladolid, we have been rescuing galgos but also podencos, I really felt sorry for them  and I could not say no, so my dears now is your time to help- us rehoming the podencos, for the moment I am doing my work and I have two podencas in foster , their characters are absolutely different, one is timid and absolutely peaceful and the other one is not so shy and she has problems because she wants to be always with humans, so when I am not there she is crying , I am going to need to take care of her behavior before she gets rehomed anyway for the moment I don’t see many differences with galgos, chocolate is more active and Matilde is more quiet, probably is also a question of age, choco is lot younger than Matilde , I will tell more about them on other updates.

We have sheared the sheep , they look really clean and fresh without their winter clothes, it is funny but we have had really big problems finding a professional  shearer , somebody who could the job in a proper way so the poor sheep didn’t feel ashamed whenever they saw themselves at the mirror, like it happened before when we were doing it ourselves.

By the way now a test who knows for how long a sheep lives , or a goat , or a cow, a hen , a pig, do you realize that none knows really what is the age that they can get, Amparito , our pig, is now around 10 years old and she looks still young. It is not funny but I have asked the vet and also I asked what are the normal diseases for pigs or any kind of this farm animals and they answered me that their main disease is the human being, all of them die because of us.

Life’s miracle Part two

In this case, I am going to tell you the history of our little fox cube , it was on Sunday that I received a phone call from the police, they had in a paperboard box a female fox  cube , she has a wound in her leg, so we took her to the shelter and at this moment we have discovered that she is a female, more or less two months old , with a broken leg, with no name yet, so we need your help with this , tell us names for her and I am thinking to put her with our puppies so she doesn’t feel alone and she can play with them and become an adult, this is what I like from Scooby that we are able to take care of any needed living creature that needs our help. The miracles of life

It has happened  again at Scooby’s , life is possible because of our help in this case we are talking about 11 wild ducks , we rescued them in Salamanca. By coincidence I was there and we received a phone call saying that a mother duck and her 11 little babies were inside a pool in the middle of the town, so we went there to see the situation, somebody had the little ducks already outside the pool and in a paperboard box, the poor mother was absolutely desperate  looking for her babies, so we tried and tried to catch her , it was impossible so it was heartbreaking to leave her behind looking for her babies,  but we could not leave them there, first the neighbors didn’t want them and second it was really dangerous for them, for example once they were inside the pool they never can come outside by themselves.

Anyway we brought them to the shelter and I was thinking how to do it to teach the babies how to eat, mainly how to eat so we took a foster mother, one of our female ducks and the result is spectacular, the babies adopted her like mother and model, they have learned how to eat and for the moment all of them have survived.
